Providence Teams with Joslin to Become a Leader in Care for Patients with Diabetes

Providence understands the importance of diabetes in our community, and will become the first Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate in the Washington, DC area this Fall. Based in Boston, MA and affiliated with Harvard Medical School, the Joslin Diabetes Center is recognized as a national and international leader in diabetes treatment and research. The center was established more than 100 years ago as the private practice of Elliott P. Joslin, MD., a diabetes specialist for over 60 years.

The Joslin Center at Providence

Dr. Abbas Motazedi will serve as Medical Director of the new Joslin Diabetes Center at Providence. Dr. Marcy Oppenheimer has been named Director of the new Center, which will be staffed with a specialized endocrinologist, specially trained nurses, dietitians, an exercise specialist, and eye and foot specialists, among others. 

Nutrition counseling by Providence registered dietitians is also available on an inpatient and outpatient basis for diabetic care as well as any specialized diets. Call 202-269-7128 for more information.
