Free Diabetes or Pre-Diabetes Screenings and Education for the District of Columbia Residents

The Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate at Providence Hospital and the District of Columbia Health Department have launched the On the Road Program to raise awareness about the importance of diabetes and pre-diabetes screenings, management, and prevention.  This program offers free diabetes and pre-diabetes education and screenings at convenient District of Columbia locations, including community centers, faith-based organizations, health clinics, and other localities.  During the two-hour sessions, people who have diabetes or pre-diabetes will learn how to make lifestyle changes that can minimize the associated health risks.  Their families, friends, and caregivers are also invited to learn more about the management of this disease.

Nutrition counseling by Providence registered dietitians is also available on an inpatient and outpatient basis for diabetic care as well as any specialized diets. Call 202-269-7128 for more information.
