Meet World-Class Surgeon, Dr. Vikisha Fripp

Vikisha Fripp, MD, FACS

Board Certified Plastic Surgeon 

Vikisha Fripp, M.D., F.A.C.S is a natural leader and has been recognized as such throughout her life. Her early education occurred in Decatur, Georgia where she was selected to be in the first class of Magnet Schools established in the county. After high school, Dr. Fripp completed a combined B.S. / M.D. program at Fisk University and Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. During her medical school career she received many honors and was inducted into the medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. She completed her General Surgery training at Howard University Hospital, graduating as 'Chief Resident of the Year'. Her Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery training was completed in 2006 at the prestigious Cornell University - New York Presbyterian Hospital. While at Cornell University she continued to excel being named the 2005 Inamed scholar.

Throughout her surgical training Dr. Fripp was appointed to represent her fellow residents. She was elected to the Candidate and Associates Society by the American College of Surgeons and in this capacity represented all residents in General Surgery. She was also named the Resident Representative for the Associate of Women Surgeons in her second and third years of training. In this appointment, she was the liaison between female surgery residents and the association. As the 2005 Inamed scholar she was responsible for teaching her co-residents surgical techniques learned during her travels. 

Dr. Fripp is a double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the International College of Surgeons (FICS), a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), Women in Plastic Surgery Steering Committee, Women in Surgery committee and Association of Women Surgeons.

In August 2011, Dr. Fripp left private practice in Atlanta, Georgia to bring her talents back to one of her favorite cities, Washington, DC. Her interests are body contouring especially after massive weight loss, cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery and non-surgical enhancement of the face and eyes. She believes Plastic Surgery affords the surgeon and patient the opportunity to sculpt individual creations. Dr. Fripp believes strongly in the importance of a well-balanced diet and exercise in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Fripp’s passion is making education attractive to children again. She volunteers with the Junior League of Washington with at-risk children. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc and works within her sorority speaking to young women about the importance of self-esteem and self-reliance. She has been a guest lecturer at Spelman College and Morehouse School of Medicine encouraging college students to reach beyond their dreams. 

Dr. Fripp was named one of Atlanta’s “Most Influential Women of 2011” by the Atlanta Business League, ‘Young Physician of the Year’ for 2010 by the Atlanta Medical Association and ‘Physician of the Year’ for 2009 by the Spelman College Health Careers Society. She has been featured on several news programs in Atlanta, Georgia commenting on an array of Plastic Surgery topics. Outside of medicine, Dr. Fripp enjoys running, world politics and traveling with her husband and daughter.
