Dr. Pat Evans named Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer for Providence

Sep 24, 2013
Dr. Patricia Evans, a board-certified Family Medicine physician and Director for the Georgetown University-Providence Family Medicine Residency Program for more than sixteen years, has been named  Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and  Chief Medical Officer for Providence, effective October 1, 2013.

A graduate of Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, with a medical degree, Dr. Evans completed an Obstetrics Fellowship and Residency in Family Medicine at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

Dr. Evans served as Associate Director/Obstetrics Director at Franklin Square Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program in Baltimore, MD, and as Medical Director of Tri-Home Hospice Program in Baltimore, MD.  Dr. Evans was appointed Medical Director of Georgetown University-Providence Family Medicine Residency Program in 1997.    She was subsequently named Program Director in 2003,  and continued in this capacity in addition to her practice at Fort Lincoln Family Medicine Center.

Dr. Evans was named “Top Doctor” in  the  Washington, DC Area in 2005, 2008 and 2010 by Washingtonian Magazine.  She was named to the Providence Board of Directors in 2012.

“After conducting a search for the right candidate to fill this critical role at Providence, we are delighted to announce that Dr. Pat Evans was the unanimous choice of the search committee, and are thrilled that she will be joining the Providence leadership team as our new Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer next month,” said Amy Freeman, President and CEO of Providence.

“As the Program Director of the Georgetown University-Providence Family Medicine Residency, I have had the opportunity to work closely with physicians, nursing and staff across our hospital system, including: Labor and Delivery and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, as our patients literally begin their lives; in the Emergency Department, and on the hospital floors as they grow and face illness in their own lives and in their family members’ lives; and with our Intensive Care Unit and Carroll Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, as families face end-of-life decisions together,” said Dr. Evans.

“I am excited to continue and expand my role as a leader within the Providence system,” said Evans.  “As we expand and grow our connections with community partners and physicians, we will continue to develop innovative and exciting approaches to serve the healthcare needs of the families that  live and work in our community.   The families in our community will seek care in our system because they receive quality care that is focused  on their individual needs.   They will experience the Providence system as a Medical Home that provides the healthcare they need at every juncture of their lives.  And the families we care for will feel the Joy, Care, and Respect that is at the foundation of our healthcare system,” Evans concluded.
