This is a time when fighting takes on a whole new meaning for you and your family. Providence Cancer and Oncology Services will be here to fight this battle with you. We offer expert Oncology care through inpatient and outpatient settings, providing patients with treatment customized to meet each persons health and lifestyle needs.
Our philosophy, to provide healing for the mind, body, and spirit, guides our Oncology Services. Providence cares for patients dealing with many types of Cancer such as, breast, prostate, colorectal, and lung cancer among others. Services are designed to create an environment of comfort and healing for every patient, from diagnosis to recovery.
Education, Prevention & Early Detection
Education, prevention and early detection are the first steps to maintaining your health especially when cancer may be the diagnosis. Education is provided by all of our care providers as well as our community health coordinators, registered dietitians and breast health navigators. In an effort to prevent and detect Cancer early, we follow the American Cancer Society’s recommendations for preventive screenings. These screenings include breast exams, mammography, abnormal pap smears, prostate cancer screenings, and more.
Inpatient Care
The inpatient cancer services at Providence provide quality patient care for adults diagnosed with cancer who are in any phase of active treatment. Our certified Oncologists and oncology nurses walk with you through each phase of the treatment process, from diagnosis, biopsy, and surgery, to radiation and chemotherapy treatment.
Outpatient Care
The Outpatient Infusion Treatment Center provides outpatient intravenous (IV) therapy for patients with cancer and other blood disorders. The overall goal of this treatment is to minimize hospitalizations allowing patients to recover in the comfort of their own home and allows patients to take part in their own treatment.
Nutrition counseling by Providence registered dietitians is also available to help assist on an inpatient and outpatient basis for cancer prevention and care as well as any specialized diets. Call (202) 269-7276 for more information.
Cancer Navigation
Providence’s Breast Cancer Navigator and Prostate Health Navigator coordinate programs that focus on maintaining the health of the whole person. The hospital offers programs including Look Good Feel Better, Reach to Recovery, and monthly support groups in order to meet the spiritual, physical, and mental health needs of every individual.
The Cancer-Oncology Services at Providence is also proud to be part of the Paul Carey Foundation, which permits Providence Health Foundation and other committee members to provide funds or additional services to patients living with cancer.
