The Transportation service was started in the 1980s and has grown from a two-vehicle service to a fleet of nine, serving the needs of patients, clinic patients, nursing home residents and physicians. The Transportation department provides about 4500 rides per year, not including the daily shuttle rides.

The department provides free services to the patients, clients or residents of Carroll Manor, the Geriatric Clinic, Perry Family Health Center, Congress Heights & Model Cities Senior Centers, our Senior Connection, Seton House, emergency department, case management, outpatient rehab and surgery, outpatient infusion center, the nursing units, the Mission Council, Human Resources and Providence's associates.

Our Transportation department provides rides to those clients in the community that have no way to make their appointments without our assistance. Scheduling is done through each of these departments; patients may not schedule their own rides.

Providence Hospital provides a daily shuttle to/from the Brookland/Catholic University Metro rail station. The shuttle stops at the Metro station, the hospital entrance and Carroll Manor every 15-20 minutes. The morning shuttle runs from 5:30 to 9:30 a.m. The afternoon shuttle runs from 2:30 to 7:00 p.m. with a stop at the Washington Jesuit Academy.

Schedules may be picked up from the driver, the information desk or viewed on-line.

A golf cart shuttle service is available to transport staff, physicians and clients to and from the main hospital and Carroll Manor. This service is offered daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (not available on holidays or weekends). Riders may call the operator for a ride.
