Sitting directly adjacent to the busy main entrance to Providence Hospital is a healing
garden that offers a special place for peace, hope and healing to patients, families and
staff. All are welcome to use the garden to rest, meditate and simply enjoy the sights
and sounds of nature.
A slate pathway leads the visitor through the healing garden, with Japanese-style water
fountains at both entrances, flowers blooming almost year-round and four benches for rest and
contemplation.
Pillars along a garden gate separate the garden from the main driveway and a
plaque and quote on the pillars identify special groups who have inspired, enhanced
or benefited from the mission of Providence Hospital .
The hospital's mission is further displayed within the healing garden by prominent stones written with the
words Joy, Care and Respect.
Summertime brings our healing garden concert series featuring local musicians and talented members of the hospital's staff.
As in all other parts of the hospital campus, smoking in the healing garden is prohibited. We also request that visitors refrain from putting coins, stones or any other objects in any of the fountains since these objects cause damage to the pumps.

The Healing Garden was made possible by the generosity and inspiration
of the TKF Foundation, Annapolis, MD .
The initial construction of the Healing Garden also was supported by a grant from the Prince
Charitable Trust and by a major gift from the Providence Hospital Women's Board.
Providence Health Foundation welcomes additional gifts to support the maintenance and beatification of the Healing Garden. Please call 202-269-776 to inquire about gift opportunities.
