Things you should know
Pre-authorization Process:
Your insurance plan may require that you contact them for authorization of medical services prior to the services being provided in order for them to make payment to the hospital. Check you insurance plan for pre-authorization requirements.
Pre-admission Process:
For scheduled medical services, you may be contacted to provide your insurance information along with your demographic information prior to the day of service. This will assist Providence Hospital in verifying that your health plan will pay for the services and that the required pre-authorization has been received from your insurance plan.
Hospital Billing Schedule:
If you have insurance, Providence Hospital will bill your insurance company approximately one week after receiving medical services. At the same time, we will send you an informational letter notifying you that your insurance company has been billed. After your insurance company pays, Providence Hospital will bill any secondary insurance you may have or bill you for any charges or portion your insurance plan did not pay, such as, deductibles, co-payments and non-covered services.
Separate Billings from Physicians:
As part of the medical services received at Providence Hospital, Physicians may be involved in your care. These Physicians will bill you separately from the hospital for their services. Some possible physicians billings you may receive are from Radiologists, Pathologists, Emergency Room Physicians, and Cardiologists. In addition, you will be billed separately by your attending Physician and all consulting Physicians that may have been requested to assist in your care.
