Mental Health - Psychiatry

Life stressors and mental illness of any kind can affect a person’s physical and emotional wellbeing.  Managing life with an untreated mental health condition is often impossible and exhausting, and caring for someone who has signs of a mental disorder can be challenging.  Nearly two-thirds of people with diagnosable mental disorders do not seek treatment.  It is the goal of Providence Mental Health-Psychiatry Services to lower that number.

Mental Health – Psychiatric Services

Seton House, Providence Hospital's Behavioral Health Services, is a comprehensive spiritually holistic and therapeutic inpatient and outpatient care center that treats mental illness including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, dual diagnosed mental and substance abuse disorders, as well as mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. A person suffering with any of these mental disorders or disabilities should receive immediate diagnosis and treatment.

Diagnosis

Providence is able to determine a complete diagnosis based on a comprehensive patient assessment. Building a patient’s independence, coping and successful life management skills are a major focus of the Seton House team. An accurate diagnosis is necessary in order to build these skills. Services that are available upon diagnosis are inpatient, outpatient and psychiatric emergency services.

Treatment

Individualized treatment plans are developed by the Seton House staff to help patients build and maintain the necessary skills needed to live a productive life. Treatment plans include:

  • Individual, Couple, Family and Group Therapy
  • Medication education and management
  • Development of skills to cope with aging, medical illnesses, and grief or loss
  • Dual Diagnosis Treatment
