Maternal/Infant Health - Inpatient

Maternal/Infant Health Unit provides quality, compassionate care to mothers and their infants and consists of three different areas: Labor and Delivery (L&D), Postpartum (P/P), and the Special Care Nursery.

  • Labor and Delivery (L&D) - Upon admission to Maternal/Infant Health, physicians and nurses monitors the progress of labor and health of the baby.
  • Nursery - After the baby is born, he/she remains in the nursery for care and observation until stable.
  • Postpartum (P/P) - Once the baby is stable and leaves the nursery, they are then roomed with the mother to foster an early bond and allow the mother the time to become acquainted with the baby's needs. The mother also receives instruction on breastfeeding and other aspects of newborn care.

Dr. Asomani is a graduate of Georgetown University. He received his medical degree from Howard University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Howard University Hospital. Although committed to his private practice, he took time to teach as a clinical instructor in major hospitals throughout the DC area.
