How did you sleep last night?
Tired of tossing and turning?
Ever wondered if you have a sleep disorder?
The Providence Hospital Sleep Disorders Institute provides diagnostic and treatment services to
geriatric, adult and pediatric patients. The Center is located on the 2nd floor, next to where
the garage walkway meets the hospital.
Under the medical direction of Muhammad Shibli, MD, Francisco Hoyos, MD, and Verna
Bartholomew, studies conducted there include the multiple sleep latency test,
polysomnography, and CPAP titration tests.
Dr. Shibli notes that "in terms of improving ANY medical condition, a patient's good sleep will improve every aspect of treatment. And for patients, finally being able to regularly get a good night's sleep can literally be a life-changing experience."
Dr. Hoyos mentioned that there are many misconceptions about the types of people who suffer from sleep disorders. Co-morbidities resulting from obesity are certainly represented in this patient group, but a surprising number of others, including geriatric patients and children, also are affected.
"The CPAP Fitmask Clinic is a prerequisite for any successful CPAP titration and tolerance to the machine" Ms Bartholomew noted.

The Providence Sleep Disorders Institute offers sleep consultation evaluations, day- and nighttime diagnostic testing and treatment, sleep clinic follow-up, and support groups to benefit patients. The Providence Hospital Sleep Disorders Institute includes two fully equipped rooms, with queen sized beds, cable television, and all the appointments of an upscale hotel.
