The Pulmonary Functions Department provides complete monitoring of the lung functions including, capacities, lung volumes, diffusion studies and body plethysmography. Pulmonary function testing is performed for both inpatients and outpatients. State of the art equipment is available for testing: inpatient and Outpatients.

SERVICES PROVIDED

Spirometry Testing is available for evaluation of respiratory drugs, and environmental exposures. Also used in preoperative assessment, evaluation of pulmonary disability and monitor lung function over time and verification of Obstructive Lung Disease. Pre and Post Bronchodilators - To assess the change in ventilator function following the administration of a bronchodilator.

PLETHYSMOGRAPHY - To determine lung volumes through the measurement of thoracic gas volume (TGV), and assess ventilatory function through the measurement of airway resistance (Raw) and specific conductance (sGaw) Assessment of Interstitial Lung Disease

METHACHOLINE CHALLENGE/BRONCHIAL PROVOCATION STUDIES

To identify patients with hyperresponsive airways by administering different concentrations of aerosolized Methacholine Chloride.

ARTERIAL BLOOD GAS ANAYLSIS (ABG'S)

To measure SP02 in evaluating Oxygenation
