Nursing/Patient Care Services

Healthcare is one of the most personal and intimate of human services. In the constant struggle to offer the latest technology to the greatest number of patients, Providence Hospital never loses sight of the most essential component of healthcare - our people. The staff of the department of nursing recognizes human beings as unique and created by God and worthy of our respect and dignified care.

Our mission, to provide health care that is safe, health care that works and health care that leaves no one behind, is fundamental to our professional nursing practice. Providence prides itself on its participative nursing environment that encourages interdisciplinary approaches to patient care and collaborative practice for physicians, nurses and other members of the health care team.

At Providence Hospital, the nursing process is also the primary variable in developing, monitoring and evaluating all nursing practice and patient outcomes, orienting new employees, providing continuing education to associates, in driving the professional documentation system and in evaluating all staff performance.

We believe that optimal patient care flourishes in an environment in which nurses are empowered and accountable for their practice and responsible for their professional growth. By creating the opportunity for professional advancement, we assist our nurses in providing quality nursing care, improving organizational performance, experiencing increased job satisfaction and practicing with autonomy.

Providence Hospital is also a center for learning. We have a number of affiliations with nursing schools in the community as well as an exchange program with nurses from Japan. The hospital offers nursing opportunities in medical surgical nursing, cardiology, critical care/intermediate care, behavioral health, maternal infant health, perioperative services, emergency, nursing education, nursing administration, palliative care and more.
