Shortly after your arrival, an Admissions Coordinator will visit with you to assist in the completion of the admissions process and help address your questions.

Successful rehabilitation can improve the quality of your life. While receiving therapy, you are expected to:

  • Be motivated to focus on your abilities and strengths while accepting limitations of your disability;
  • Attend all therapy sessions, the exception being for medical reasons;
  • Be out of bed approximately 8 to 10 hours a day;
  • Be served lunch and dinner in the Center's dining room; and
  • Follow the therapy routines established by you and your therapist.

Your therapy includes service from many disciplines. The following is a description of each:

Physical Therapy
Your physical therapist will develop a plan to restore function, improve strength, balance, coordination, endurance and flexibility by evaluating your functional status and current mobility.

Occupational Therapy
Your occupational therapist will assist you to learn or retain the skills needed for activities of daily living. Such skills may require the use of assistive devices or adaptive equipment.

Speech & Language Therapy
Your speech and language therapist will evaluate your speech, voice, hearing, communication and swallowing difficulties and safely guide you through a treatment program.

Nursing
The nursing staff provides continuous care, ongoing education and evaluation of your status to assist you in achieving your short and long-term goals,. Nurses render 24 hour care and are concerned with your physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs.

Social Work Services
A licensed social worker serves as a liaison between you, your physician, family and the rehabilitation team in planning for a safe discharge. Referrals for home care, medical equipment, outpatient therapies and community resources will be coordinated by your social worker.

Psychological Therapy
Certified by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals, your activities therapist will assess, plan and implement services to enhance your recreational needs.

Case Management
A registered nurse case manager coordinates your care from admission through discharge. He or shell will communicate with your insurance company, the doctor, rehabilitation team members, and community agencies involved in your care, to help ensure a safe discharge.

Pastoral Care
Our Pastoral Care professionals assist with your spiritual needs during your stay. This care also extends to your family or care giver.

Nutrition/Diet Therapy
Registered and licensed dietitians will complete an assessment to plan for your nutrition needs and goals. Should you have specialized needs, the dietitian will coordinate food preparation and selection with you.

Family Participation
Because your family, significant other or caregiver is crucial to the recovery process, they are invited to attend your therapies and learn techniques that will help them care for you after discharge.

Preparation to Stay
Clothing
Part of establishing a normal daily routine is participating in therapy. To make your therapy sessions more comfortable, the clothes you wear should fit loosely so not to restrict movement. Several comfortable pairs of slacks or sweat paints, sweatshirts or sweaters, rubber soled shores (to prevent slipping), socks, nights gowns, pajamas and a robe for evening are recommended.

Personal Belongings
A small amount of cash may be on hand to purchase snacks and newspaper, but please leave your valuables at home.

Preparing for Discharge

Please make arrangements for transportation when it is time for you to return home. A timely discharge at or before 11:00am is appreciated.

Your physician will prepare and sign your discharge papers, of which you will receive a copy. Please ensure all belongings are gathered, remembering to check closets and dresser drawers.

Insurance and Billing

Upon verification of your insurance coverage, claims for services will be submitted to your insurance carrier. You may be responsible for a portion of the bill not covered by your policy.
